Background

The chance to work with Sofar Sounds hugely appealed – a visionary company which was innovating in live music, community building and digital delivery.

Sofar Sounds have been taste-makers in the music industry, organising secret invite only concerts in intimate settings with an emphasis on diversity, inclusivity and humbleness even when renowned acts have played their stripped back sets such as Bastille and Leon Bridges. They’ve also helped launch the careers of a fair few musicians, such as the piano genius Tokio Myers.  

Results

Initially our brief was to help with SEO and lowering the website bounce rate, but a love of the job meant it expanded way beyond that.

Our greatest success was helping the company to grow organically through understanding the power of press as a linkbuilding tool – a lever which has grown steadily over the last four years. It now allows the company to pull in 150K + organic visitors per month – a staggering amount – and we’ve only scratched the surface of what is possible!

The SEO and linkbuilding strategy we created for Sofar was incredibly tailored to their needs – to the extent of working closely with their staff and community teams in workshops to understand SEO better and how they could deliver as part of their daily jobs. We also helped Sofar to initially build out their paid search strategy across the US and UK markets. 

We have been very excited to watch their growth, from obtaining backing from Richard Branson who called Sofar ‘the future of music’, to now being live in over 425 global cities and counting.
